A shared Slack link can open as live content

On 15 October 2026, Slack launched Work Object Embeds. A link from a supported app or agent opens as live, interactive content inside the thread, on desktop, web, and mobile.

What shipped

On 15 October 2026, Slack said Work Object Embeds are available. When someone shares a link from a supported app or agent, it opens as live, interactive content in the thread. Slack names three examples: edit a Box note, explore an Amplitude dashboard, or review a Confluence page without leaving the conversation. The same experience runs on desktop, web, and mobile.

Embeds follow access people already have. They use existing authentication, so someone sees only what they are allowed to see. Slack vets every partner app, and admins choose who gets embeds, for the whole organization or by workspace. Custom apps can use embeds now. A Marketplace app has to request access. Slack names six partners: Amplitude, Atlassian for Confluence pages through Rovo, Box, Gamma, Sandstone, and Polly. Polly is marked coming soon, for Q&A moderation and live poll results.

What this means when you choose a chat tool

The change is where supported work sits. A company that already lives in Slack can review and act on those apps in the thread, instead of opening a new tab and losing the conversation. Angela Kirchhof, VP of Product Management at Slack, describes the embeds as interactive and still under the controls IT already trusts. That is a reason to look hard at Slack if those apps are the ones this company uses.

It is not a reason for every company to switch. A Microsoft 365 shop that will not run a second chat does not get these embeds by reading the post. A shift crew that will not open a desk app does not get them either. Teams and Slack are still different bets. Grade the company, then read the comparison.

What did not change

Embeds are for supported apps and agents, not every link someone pastes. Polly is not in the live set yet. Admins still decide who gets embeds. The post does not put the same live cards into Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, or a company-owned phone chat. The stack this company will actually open still picks the winner.

How to use the quiz

Answer where the team already works, and how far software is allowed to act in the thread. Then send the poster. The winner should match the company you have, not the Slack Marketplace list.

Grade the company you actually have

90 seconds. The last question is Chat, Suggest, Act, or Build. Then send the poster to the person still arguing in the abstract.
